FENG SHUI CLINIC "This room needs new life" was the request to the students from Interior Design Program at North Shore Community College (Danvers, MA) enrolled in the Feng Shui for Interior Design course (Spring 2012). This before picture features a living room with a never played piano (on left wall) and a broken grandfather clock (right wall). The curtains, rug and couch were an overwhelming floral print. The room was dark and only used to watch TV. The pink chairs, passed down by a family member were reminders of the past. It was agreed that this room was "stuck in time." The goal was to have a living room that welcomed family and friends. The students used the ancient Chinese principles learned in Feng Shui class to create a space that was balanced and comfortable. Karen E. Kelly from Morning Glory ReDesign in Salem, MA (info@MorningGloryRedesign.com) gave assistance with color and furniture choices. The after photo shows a bright cheerful room with flow and energy. The piano and clock were removed. In their place was a new couch relocated to a supportive position against the wall and a color-coordinated chair. The smoky blue paint color called "serenity" gave the room a casual comfy feel. The simple curtains showed the beautiful woodwork and morning sunlight. The artwork was carefully chosen to share family stories with visitors. Because the room is located in the career area of the bagua, the black spindle chair was the only piece that remained-a gift to a loved teacher when she retired. Former student notes and letters are being held in a wicker basket easily retrieved for viewing. Well students...You did a greatjob bringing life to this space. This projected deserves an A+ grade. Well done! Contact www.FSSone.com for more information on the benefits of Feng Shui consult for a room needing TLC. Simplicity is the best policy what has been proven! As the living room is for taking rest so it has to be completely cozy and huge and the placement of simple curtain keeps it fresh by passing the daylight over the room. Thanks for the demo of a comfortable living room.
